About Us

It’ll come as no surprise: we’re really into parking. Since parking comes down to accommodation and accessibility, it exerts great influence over its nearby communities. It’s a rallying point for anyone with issues of mobility. Parking has enormous financial and environmental impacts, too.

In our blog, we keep you up-to-date on changes in the industry. We’re tracking interesting parking stories that intersect with all kinds of social, political, and economic issues, from intellectual property to gentrification to urban planning. We’re also thinking about what our readers want: information on running effective lots, people’s parking rights, and what the ADA has to say about handicap parking standards.

It’s our goal to help answer your parking questions, educate you about parking issues, and even, just maybe, get you a little excited about parking.

  1. I have a handicapped parking plackard. In an emergency is it ok to park in a handicapped access aisle if the handicapped space is blocked? (This is in regard to Palm Beach County, FL)

  2. Jean, I can understand the frustration of getting to a parking lot only to find no available accessible spots for you, but we’re pretty sure you can’t ever park in the access aisle, particularly because it’s often designed to be shared by adjacent accessible spots. If the spot is unlawfully blocked by the lot owners, it might be worth taking it up with them and reminding them of the importance of keeping those spaces available to people who need them.
