Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn, in street signs

One intersection in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, is screaming for some literary attention. Just off Highway 115 is the intersection pictured above. Ironically enough, the two signs — referring to the two characters in, respectively, The Adventures of Tom Saywer and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, who seem to reflect a Louis and Clark nationalist manifesto later sharply turned on its head by Jack Kerouac’s On The Road, a call to arms, of a sort, for the anti-establishment Beat poets — are located at the mouth of an industrial complex, and couched in regulation sign format. Any Twain fans out there? Tell us what you think in the comments, on adventure, signs, and their necessary regulations.
