The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration successfully completed the National Labor Day Crackdown. As many as 10,000 law enforcement agencies across the country and the State, local and Federal authorities joined hands to curb impaired driving as a part of the \u2018Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over<\/em>\u2019 initiative.<\/p>\n

\"NHTSA<\/p>\n

Research shows that high visibility enforcement such as this, is one of the most yielding ways to bring down impaired driving and save lives. The initiative helped reduce the number of accidents resulting from drunken driving and aided in saving lives which otherwise would be lost.<\/p>\n

Media published by Traffic Safety Marketing<\/a> (TSM) revealed that the year 2009 witnessed 10,839 people dying in crashes where a driver exceeded the legal limit for alcohol.<\/p>\n

NHTSA<\/a> now asks for more participation during the next National Impaired Driving Crackdown that will take place from December 16, 2011 to January 2, 2012. The authority plans to focus its initiative in the period including Halloween, Super Bowl, St. Patrick\u2019s Day and the Fourth of July, to reduce impaired driving.<\/p>\n
