This week, \u00a0we thought we&#8217;d look at the number of stop signs we&#8217;ve sold across all of our sites &#8211; I was curious about which states have the highest density of intersections. (Also, I remember driving from Virginia to New York City once, and feeling like I stopped every fifteen feet in the state of Delaware.)<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what we came up with.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7947\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.myparkingsign.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/USA-500.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7947\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7947\" src=\"https:\/\/www.myparkingsign.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/USA-500.jpg\" alt=\"Graphic showing stop signs per mile of road\" width=\"500\" height=\"428\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.myparkingsign.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/USA-500.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.myparkingsign.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/USA-500-300x257.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-7947\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Stop signs per mile of road according to 15 years of our sales statistics.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Hawaii is predictable &#8211; it&#8217;s tiny and virtually highway-free. I was surprised that California is dense with stop signage &#8211; I felt certain highways would constitute a higher proportion of total travel. Florida is the real surprise here, though. Having driven from Tampa through Georgia many times, I&#8217;d never perceived a sudden change in the density or texture of the roads.<\/p>\n<p>Another striking feature: the huge hole in the center of the country where we&#8217;ve sold far fewer stop signs relative to how much road they have &#8212; the Dakotas, Nebraska, Kansas, Montana, and Idaho all have an extremely low density of intersections, immediately visible on the map; you can discern Colorado&#8217;s subdivisions and suburban sprawl from its slightly darker hue.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There&#8217;s a lot of information about building and urban design habits hidden in our sales data.
