We all love our children and do everything in our hands to keep them safe and protected from any kind of danger. And while we want to be with our kids all the time to guard them against any peril, it is practically impossible, not to mention irrational!

Kids are exposed to danger almost everywhere, but it is on the road that this level of danger increases.

Although appropriate Traffic Signs ,for the safety of children, are installed on practically every road holding a school or a park etc., the risk is not completely eliminated but only reduced. A STOP Sign is usually installed at places like residential areas and playgrounds/ schoolyards or roads where frequent motor accidents are experienced.

School Crossing Sign:

Schools are a place where children spend a considerable part of their day. It is also a place where they are encouraged to do things on their own which mean risks may come up. Crossing a street is one of those risks that a child has to learn how to do safely.

School Crossing Signs are central to the safety of both the drivers and pedestrians and in our case, small kids. Since these signs are so important for the safety of children on roads, it’s only logical that you teach your little ones what these signs are meant for and what they look like. The next time you drop off or pick up your child from school, give him/her some practical lessons on the right way to cross a street and the side of the street they should walk on.

Slow- Children At Play Sign:

A child’s safety is not a matter of child’s play! Streets near playgrounds can become a spot for automobile accidents if necessary precautions are not taken. Signage ensure that kids are out of harm’s way while playing.

Understanding and obeying a Seat Belt Sign is not only required of adults but children too.

Teach your little ones how to spot these kinds of signs and what they imply. Parents should always ask their kids to wear a seat belt whenever they are traveling by a car or motor vehicle. You’d be pleasantly surprised to see your child reminding you to buckle up the next time you’re on the road!

• Always follow Traffic Safety Rules and Traffic Signs yourself to set a good example for your children.
• Look both ways every time you cross a street.
• Always wear a seat belt and ensure your child is wearing one too.
• Pick the safest route while dropping your kid off to school. Walk with your child on several occasions before allowing him/her to travel on his/her own.
• Never cross an intersection diagonally or from between parked cars. Cross at the crosswalk at the corner and never in the middle of the block.

 

Road Safety Tips for Kids

The best way to learn something is to do it. Besides teaching Traffic Signs for Kids, parents should also encourage children to practice road safety on a daily basis.

• Look both ways while crossing a street. Crossing the street with the Crossing guard is the ideal thing to do.
• Do not abruptly stop or hang around a street. Cross quickly.
• Wear a helmet when riding a bicycle, scooter or a skateboard.
• Walk your bicycles, skateboards etc. across crosswalks.
• Be conscious of alleys and driveways when moving on a sidewalk. A car may suddenly emerge from driveways and alleys which can lead to an accident.
• In the absence of a sidewalk, walk as close to the edge of the road as possible. Face the traffic while doing so.
• Do not walk or run in front of cars. Be careful of cars in parking lots as drivers may not be able to see you.
• Always wear a seat belt while in a car.
