Parking Sign Symbols

One if the most common symbols in the World is that of “No Parking Sign”. Whether you are in remote regions of Africa or Asia, or the urban jungles of North America and Europe, a no parking sign will never leave your sight.

No Parking Signs are installed on roads, streets, bridges, parking lots and many other places denoting that parking is prohibited at and around that spot. Unlike many other road and traffic signs, no parking sign has mostly remained constant over the decades. The symbols have practically remained unchanged and are recognized universally. Countries may differ in specifics of their no parking sign designs. Still, the most widely seen parking signs involve a red diagonal slash inside a red ring in either directions. Red diagonal with red ring is also the most common ‘prohibition symbol’ – used in context of parking here.

In Europe and many parts of Asia the red ring and diagonal are on a blue circle. Most of the Americas and parts of Asia, Africa and Australia have a bold ‘P’ in the red circle with the diagonal.
