Each van accessible parking space needs a sign that features the ISA (International Symbol of Access) icon for handicap parking and the words “Van Accessible.” This must be installed on a post, wall, or fence, as long as it is at least 60 inches (ADA Chapter 502.6) off the ground. You can choose the option of using a main sign plus a supplemental sign or it’s a little cheaper to have all the information on one Reserved Parking Van Accessible Sign. Make sure to check with your state or local authorities for any specifics.
You can use a custom van accessible sign template to add a specific fine amount on your sign. Add your fine amount and give a heads up against illegally parking in van accessible spots. Custom signs are available in as many as ten different sizes ranging from 6” x 12” to 48” x 60” Customization tool allows you to add specific text and an arrow too that shows where not to park. Your text can be adjusted for size, font, alignment, text and sign color.
Van Accessible stencil is made of Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene, more popularly known as the ABS plastic. The ABS stencils are 63 mils (1/16 inches) thick, ideal for parking lots and other outdoor applications. ABS is chosen for stencils because this type of plastic liquifies upon heating, instead of burning, which allows it to be readily injection-molded to any cutout or shape. Also, this plastic is easily recyclable, causing minimal harm to the environment.
The length of the supplemental sign (that most states use) is 6 inches and the width is 12 inches. 6” x 12” is the minimum required size for Van Accessible supplemental signs by MUTCD (Section 2B.03). The minimum size is ideal for low-speed roadways where the reduced legend size would be sufficient to meet the regulation or where certain physical conditions hinder the use of the other sizes. Other sizes that we offer are 6” x 18”, 8” x 12”, and 9“ x 18”.
