School Crossing Signs - Page 2

Yes, a customizable school crossing sign is available, letting you add your school name in your preferred font style and size. Custom school crossing signs still use the same durable materials as standard stock signs, so personalization doesn't affect outdoor performance.

Fluorescent yellow diamond-grade reflective aluminum school crossing signs are three times more reflective than high-intensity signs and ten times more reflective than engineer-grade signs. Fluorescent school crossing signs are highly conspicuous during the day and at twilight, and they deliver strong nighttime reflectivity along with wide-angle performance thanks to 3M micro prismatic lens technology. The MUTCD also requires school crossing signs to use a fluorescent color format, making fluorescent options the standard choice rather than an upgrade.

Yes, BigBoss floor signs for school crossing use are built for long-term outdoor durability. The BigBoss floor sign kit includes 160 mil thick corrugated polypropylene plastic sign panels and a heavy-duty frame with a contoured profile that deflects winds of up to 30-plus mph, and stability can be further improved by adding water, sand, or a mix of both to the frame's built-in ballast port. Two kit options are available: the BigBoss Standard Kit, rated for at least three years of outdoor life, and the BigBoss Pro Kit, rated for at least seven years, with standalone coroplast sign panels rated for over three years on their own.

While both school crossing signs and pedestrian crossing signs alert drivers to watch for people crossing the road ahead, the two differ in usage and design. School crossing signs serve the specific purpose of controlling traffic around schools, while pedestrian crossing signs have a wider application and are used at intersections or crosswalks generally to enhance pedestrian safety. Pedestrian crossing signs are diamond-shaped, while school crossing signs are usually pentagon-shaped with a supplemental rectangular plaque added beneath the pentagon.

School crossing sign size depends on where the sign will be posted and how fast traffic moves past it. Smaller school crossing signs, such as 12"x12" or 12"x18", work well for parking lots, sidewalks, and low-speed drop-off areas, while larger school crossing signs, such as 30"x30" or 36"x48", are better suited for busier roads bordering the school where drivers need more distance to read and react.

Yes, portable school crossing signs are available in formats like A-frame stands, cone-mounted panels, and standing floor signs for situations that call for temporary rather than permanently posted signage. Portable school crossing signs are useful for after-school events, construction detours near a school, or crossing points that only need coverage during drop-off and pick-up hours.
