Farm Signs - Page 3

Farm signs include animal crossing signs for cattle, horses, and livestock, farm machinery and tractor crossing signs, keep gate closed signs, and custom signs for farm names or entrances. Each type of farm sign addresses a different safety or property need, from warning drivers of slow-moving equipment to reminding visitors to close a gate behind them.

Farm signs are typically made from aluminum, since aluminum resists rust and holds up well outdoors in rain, wind, and sun. Many farm signs also use 3M reflective sheeting, giving the sign added durability and visibility in changing weather.

Yes, many farm signs use reflective aluminum or reflective sheeting so they stay visible to drivers at dusk, at night, or in fog. Reflective farm signs are especially useful for animal crossing and slow-moving vehicle warnings, since rural roads often have limited lighting.

Farm signs facing a public road, such as farm machinery or animal crossing signs, should generally follow MUTCD standards so drivers recognize the shape, color, and message. Farm signs used only on private property, like a farm name sign or a keep-gate-closed reminder, don't need to meet MUTCD requirements.

Farm sign size depends on where the sign will be posted and how fast traffic moves past it. Smaller farm signs, such as 12"x12", work well for gates, fences, and low-traffic areas, while larger farm signs, up to 36"x36" or more, are better suited for public roads where drivers need more distance to read and react.

Yes, many farm signs can be customized with your own farm name, wording, colors, or graphics, making them useful for entrance signs, welcome signs, or property-specific warnings. Custom farm signs are still made from the same durable, weather-resistant materials as standard farm signs.

Farm crossing signs, such as cattle, horse, or farm machinery crossing signs, should be placed far enough ahead of the crossing point to give drivers time to slow down, typically at the edge of the farm property along the public road. Placing farm crossing signs at consistent, visible heights and clearing away brush or overgrowth around them helps keep the sign easy to see from a distance.
