Radioactive Placards

Radioactive 7 placards identify packages and transport vehicles carrying radioactive materials regulated under DOT 49 CFR and IAEA standards. The number 7 refers to Class 7 in the UN hazardous materials classification system, which covers all radioactive substances. Within Class 7, there are three label categories that indicate increasing levels of radiation: Radioactive I (white label, lowest surface radiation), Radioactive II (yellow label, moderate radiation), and Radioactive III (yellow label, highest permitted radiation levels for a single package). Our radioactive material signs and Class 7 hazmat placards are available in all required formats to keep your transport and storage operations compliant with NRC and DOT regulations.

Radioactive placards are made from durable materials engineered to withstand the demanding conditions of transport and outdoor storage environments. DOT regulations require that hazmat placards remain legible and securely attached throughout the transport journey, so our radioactive hazmat placards are available in rigid aluminum for permanent facility and vehicle mounting, reflective adhesive vinyl for enhanced nighttime visibility on transport containers, and weatherproof plastic for cost-effective short-term applications. For facilities requiring both wall-mounted identification and vehicle placarding, our radioactive material signs are available in aluminum and adhesive polyester formats that resist UV exposure, moisture, chemical splash, and the physical handling common during loading and unloading operations, ensuring the required trefoil symbol and warning text remain clearly legible throughout the full service life of the placard.

You may apply our placards in two ways depending on your preferred placard material. Vinyl placards have an adhesive backing and do not need any separate application tool. They easily conform to any package or container. Tagboard placards can be conveniently installed with the help of placard holders on vehicles carrying hazardous material. We offer both plastic and aluminum placard holders. The aluminum holders are available in riveted, rivetless, and clipped-corner designs. 

A Flip-n-Lock placard is our one-size-fits-all solution to your hazmat placarding requirements. It features multiple DOT legends, radioactive included, in a single holder for you to flip between as required. You may choose from 10 and 15 legend Flip-n-Lock placards, available in natural finish aluminum bases.

Radioactive-I labels are used for radioactive materials with extremely low radiation levels. On the other hand, radioactive-II and radioactive-III labels indicate materials with low and higher radiation levels, respectively. We offer these labels in coated paper and vinyl materials for you to choose from.
