Summary of Results

• MyParkingSign saves customers, on average, 86%. When compared to the two largest sign dealers, MyParkingSign save you even more (120%). This means that MyParkingSignÂ’s price is less than half of the price charged by the two largest competitors.

• The average savings in using MyParkingSign, across these sample orders was $141.

• Shipping charges averaged 19% of sales. This, effectively, means that a company (such as MyParkingSign) is giving a discount of 19% when free shipping policies are instituted.

• MyParkingSign prices are lower than all other competitors in all but 3 of the 44 head-to-head price comparisons in this survey, including internet firms, when shipping charges are factored. And, in these three instances, the price differences were very small (averaging only $4.00).

Methodology

• Ten orders were selected at random, using the most common products. Some orders were for just a single sign; others were for much larger quantities. The mix included both stock and custom signs, as well as orders with both sign posts and sign bases. All signs are stock signs, unless noted as "custom".

• For competitors, we selected three of the largest sign distributors in the US, along with a single internet-only distributor.

• The price analysis was completed during the week of June 1st, 2011.

• Shipping costs were based on Ground UPS and taken from the competitorÂ’s shopping cart screens, when possible. The orders represented a mixture of “Ship-To” locations, with some customers nearby and others requiring a shipment to UPS Zone 6.

Caveats
We encourage you to perform your own competitive price analysis. Prices can change. A number of factors influence pricing and we list some of these factors here:
  • Aluminum Prices. Given the volatility of aluminum pricing, note that sign pricing changes can change quickly. Energy is a key component for aluminum and aluminum, of course, is the primary material used for parking signs.
  • Film Costs. Another important cost component is the reflective film used for reflective signs. Although MyParkingSign.com uses 3M films (generally), lower cost or imported films may be significantly less. As a result, you may find greater price variation for signs in the future from competitors.
  • Imported Signs. While the larger distributors do not seem to be using imported products, a number of smaller companies are now importing traffic and parking signs from China. MyParkingSign.com signs are domestically manufactured.
  • Discounts. Finally note that some companies offer discounts from time-to-time. Aimed primarily at new customer, these “come-on” offers are not generally available to traditional customers. Moreover, these discounts are often confined to the larger competitors and are typically limited to 20% off, or less. As such, MyParkingSign.com does not believe that these discounts appreciably change the overall competitive price rankings. The relative savings for MyParkingSign.com are only slightly diminished.
  • Shipping Rates. Although MyParkingSign.com offers generous free shipping terms (free shipping via UPS ground for all orders over $25), shipping rates are volatile. For example, UPS has instituted energy surcharges to reflect higher-than-expected fuel costs. You may find that your shipping rates may differ from those used in this analysis.
  • Blanket Orders. MyParkingSign.com concentrates on the “off street” parking market. This includes schools, apartment complexes, malls, retail stores, restaurants, clinics, etc. Larger government agencies and municipalities are often able to negotiate blanket pricing terms that may be lower than the pricing shown by MyParkingSign.com.
